Managing and Coaching is a rewarding and fun experience for a parent; it might also test your patience with your own child in ways you never imagined, but hey – it’s still rewarding and fun. If you are interested in volunteering for either of these highly rewarding roles, please email the commissioner of the division your child will play in (contact information for each division is at Spring League descriptions), AND register as a volunteer during the registration process, selecting "manager" or "coach" as appropriate. You must complete a Background Check annually, complete Live Scan fingerprinting when you initially begin volunteering for MVLL, and complete other online training in Sudden Cardiac Arrest, Concussion, and Adult Abuse Awareness (all required by either the State of California or Little League International).
Outside of managing and coaching, Little League needs an ARMY of other volunteers to be successful – it’s a lot of fun. You can register as a volunteer when you sign your kiddo up for baseball or email us at [email protected]. Opportunities currently include:
Photographers: Talented behind the lens? We need a crew of photographers who can attend games and get photos of our Mill Valley ball players doing what they do best. We also need someone to coordinate all these photographers! Email us at [email protected] if you’re up for it.
Fields: Our fields need plenty of TLC. This fun outdoor opportunity might result in YOU getting to drive one of our tractors (maybe even the Ferrari). Contact our Fields Coordinator, Matt Koss, through [email protected] if you, too, dream of driving an old red or green tractor around a baseball diamond.
Umpires: Our umpire team could use a volunteer(s) to augment our staff! The role includes helping with scheduling and general support of our Umpire In Chief and Umpire Coordinator. This is a fun role as it provides the volunteer with an opportunity to work with our wonderful Mill Valley youth. Contact our Umpire Coordinator , Claire Bindeman, at [email protected] if this sounds like fun.
Livestreaming: We need a volunteer to help us schedule the Livestream feeds! We have volunteers for the Alto and Majors fields, but need help at Minors. This is largely a "remote" job that includes: scanning the MVLL website for game schedules and then program games in the Gamecast app; making sure streams are live during games; troubleshooting stream and extending games if extra innings; maintain Twitch channels; VOD, analytics, etc.; scan Slack channels for game delays, rescheduling, etc.; schedule playoff games; and Interact with league commissioners and board members as necessary.
